Maastricht Mayor Expects Illegal Drug Sales to Increase

Recently the two border towns of Roosendaal and Bergen op Zoom announced that they will close all so-called “coffee shops” where the sale of drugs is allowed. Gerd Leers, the mayor of Maastricht, another border town, said that this is likely to lead to increased sales by illegal drug runners. He appealed to the Minister of Justice to reach a uniform attitude toward drug sales for all of Europe.
