Insurance Companies: Schools Insufficiently Prepared For Fire

The insurance companies VNG Verzekeringen and Centraal Beheer Achmea claim that Dutch schools are insufficiently prepared for fire. Schools either underestimate the risks or consider safety measures too expensive. Schools are thirty times more at risk of fire than homes. About 300 fires break out annually in schools, of which 50% are in elementary schools. Arson is the cause of 25-35% of the fires.
